Construction Has Begun

I have finished the majority of the work needed to the Perenthia World Builder to start building out the Perenthia world.

Starting to pave the roads in the city of Angarath:

I marked Delcor and Angarath on this map to make it a little easier to see why Delcor remains a small village:

Creature Images

As I start to get the creatures images I will start adding them to the game. For now the Rat and Creeper images are online.

Rat

During the opening of the Chasm into the underworld a few rats were mutated and have spawned new generations of vicious and overly large rats. You can typically find them in the sewers and basements of cities and towns.

 

Creeper

The creepers emerged from the Chasm in large swarms, feeding on anything that crossed their path. They can still be found lurking around the dark places, just be wary of the swarms...

Thought I would post a shot of the tool I am working on for adding content to Perenthia. This will also become the basis of the tool used to create user dungeons.

That blue dot on the map is the town of Delcor. :)

User Created Content and Perenthia

Over the course of the last few months I have been actively reading and participating in the Perenthia Forum discussions and really liked some of the ideas everyone has for additions to the game. Since I can not possibly keep up with that kind of demand I thought it might be more appropriate to build in some tools to allow the players to contribute to the game world.

To that end I am going to implement some features that will allow players to create custom dungeons and quests. More details to come on how it all will work as I get things planned out and implemented but the overall idea would be that towns and cities would have a special area for user added dungeons that upon entering this area you would be presented with an option to explore dungeons created by your fellow players. As a player you would have the option to build dungeons that would be added to these special areas in the cities. I haven’t worked out a plan for quests yet as I am still working on a flexible quest framework.

Quests and Skills

I have been steadily working on the quest framework and ensuring that all skills are valid for play. With the initial alpha launch not all of the skills available were actually valid for play but over the next few weeks more and more of them will have spells or abilities added that make them playable.

In addition to skills more items are being added and will appear for sale by merchants or drops from creatures.

Quests are slow going right now as the ones I have planned require some travel to different locations and those locations have not been added to the main game database as of yet. work progresses on the admin tools that will allow a little more rapid building of these areas.

Welcome to the Official Perenthia Blog where you can find up-to-date information on all things Perenthia from development status to new features ideas.

On the subject of new features, the Perenthia public site is undergoing some new changes including a new section called "Character Spotlight". This new spot on the home page will showcase your characters. It will start out randomly featuring a new character every day and then eventually move towards highlighting characters who accomplish goals within the game, complete some challenging quests and dungeons or just make an impact on other players.
